What'd we miss? Eid al-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr, the "festival of breaking the fast," marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan. After 30 days of fasting and sober reflection, Muslims can finally gather to celebrate together, to eat sweets and give gifts, all the while thinking of and honoring those less fortunate.
This year, the gathering in celebration might have changed a bit but it's safe to say that the balance of experiencing great joy while contemplating people in need has taken on a new and deeper meaning.
And now, about this brownie...
There was no question that a treat made in honor of Eid al-Fitr had to start with baklava: crackly layers of phyllo dough, toasted nuts, cinnamon & spices, sticky, honey syrup ...
This new bar hasn't strayed far from its inspiration. Our dark chocolate brownie is sandwiched between a thin, crunchy phyllo crust and a gooey layer of walnuts, pistachios, and cinnamon-honey caramel.
